Updates on the 2023 Assembly Elections in Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Chhattisgarh:


Voting was held for 230 assembly areas in Madhya Pradesh and 70 out of 90 assembly areas in Chhattisgarh on Friday. The voting in MP ended at 6 pm, while in Chhattisgarh, it concluded at 5 pm.


Chhattisgarh had its second and final phase of voting on Friday. There are a total of 958 candidates contending for victory, including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy CM T S Singh Deo, eight state ministers, and four Members of Parliament, all vying for the 70 seats.


In the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, there are 2,533 candidates competing, with the main contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress. Around 56,060,925 voters were eligible to cast their votes on Friday.


Vote counting for both states will take place on December 3.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023 Update: Voting has ended, here's what happened today:


According to the Election Commission of India's Voter Turnout App, Dhamtari district had the highest voter turnout at 79.89%, while Raipur district had the lowest turnout.


In another report from news agency ANI, one soldier from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) lost his life in an explosion caused by Naxalites using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Gariaband.

Live updates on the 2023 Assembly Elections: By 5 pm, Madhya Pradesh had a voter turnout of about 71.11%, while Chhattisgarh recorded a turnout of 67.34%. Voting in Chhattisgarh closed at 5 pm, whereas in Madhya Pradesh, it will end at 6 pm.

The voting for the second phase of the Chhattisgarh polls ended at 5 pm. It started at 8 am except for nine booths where it began at 7 am.

Political Statements and Incidents During Voting:


State minister and BJP leader Narottam Mishra said that celebrations would happen in Pakistan if any party apart from BJP wins the elections. He urged people to vote for the BJP.

Congress' Digvijaya Singh claimed that a Congress worker was allegedly run over by a BJP candidate in Chhatarpur. The police have not taken any action yet.

In Mehgaon, Madhya Pradesh, unidentified individuals opened fire, injuring a BJP candidate and an AAP supporter. Police are investigating the incident.

Voter Turnout Updates:


Madhya Pradesh saw a voter turnout of 60.52%, while Chhattisgarh Phase 2 elections recorded 55.31% by 3 pm.

Until 1 pm, Madhya Pradesh recorded 45.40% polling, and Chhattisgarh saw 38.22% turnout in the second phase of elections.

Other Political Statements:


Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that he has never aimed for the Chief Minister's post and emphasized the focus on development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
